The Clendenin Homecoming Festival Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 1:00 PM. Parade line-up is at 11:00 AM in the Poca Valley Bank lot. Parade will begin at 1:00 PM. Please complete the form by December 1, 2019.
DETAILS: Parade line-up is at 11:00 AM in the Poca Valley Bank lot. Please check-in at the parade canopy with organizers to receive your parade number and further instructions on the location of your designated area. Parade will begin at 1:00 PM. Awards ceremony will follow the parade on Main Street.
Any support vehicle not participating in the parade, including horse trailers should be unloaded and removed from the line-up area by 11:30 AM All units must be tastefully decorated.
INFORMATION BOOTH: The information booth is next to the Poca Valley Bank (2nd Street entrance). Same location as last year.
HORSES AND ANIMAL UNITS: Any support vehicle not participating in the parade, including horse trailers, should be unloaded and moved from the line-up area by 11:30 AM. Please leave the street as clean as it was prior to your unit. Be prepared to clean up any materials dropped by your animals.
ALCOHOL: There is to be NO consumption of alcoholic beverages during the parade or in the parade staging area. There are laws prohibiting the consumption of alcoholic beverages in vehicles as well as public areas. The police will be enforcing these laws and have the ability to arrest persons who are in violation of these laws.
RADIO STATIONS/MUSIC: Please keep the volume on your sound systems turned down prior to the start of the parade while in the lineup area. Too much noise in the lineup area causes confusion and makes it difficult for parade officials to communicate with other entries. Your cooperation is appreciated.
WEATHER: The parade goes on, rain or shine.
PARADE ROUTE: The parade begins at 1:00 PM and the beginning of the parade should arrive at downtown at approximately 1:20 PM Please note that we will follow the same route as last year. 2nd Avenue is the starting point onto Spencer Rd. (119), turning right onto Elk River Road at Rite Aid, crossing the bridge on French Street, turning right down Maywood Avenue W, onto Maywood Ave E to the Clendenin Methodist Church parking lot.
PARADE ORGANIZERS: The Neon Safety Vests will identify parade organizers. They are there to assist you and assure that the parade is staged and proceeds in a manner as orderly as possible. Please follow their instructions.
POSITION CARDS: All entries will receive a position card for each unit in your entry. If your unit has multiple units, you should have an entry card for each unit or vehicle. These entry cards must be displayed in a visible location on all entries.
AWARD CATEGORIES: Overall Champion, Queen’s Choice, Mayor’s Choice, Best Float, Best First Responder, and Community Spirit.
